Shipping Policy

Power House Trailers ships trailers and shipping containers nationwide
across the United States. This page explains where we ship, how shipping
is calculated, and what to expect during delivery.
1. Where We Ship
Standard Service Area:
– Continental United States (Lower 48 states) — full coverage
Quote-Based Service:
– Alaska: Available with custom freight quote
– Hawaii: Available via roll-on/roll-off ocean freight (custom quote)
– U.S. Territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, USVI): Available with custom
quote
We Do Not Ship To:
– International destinations (currently U.S. only)
– P.O. Boxes (we deliver to physical addresses only — trailers cannot be
delivered to P.O. Boxes)
2. Shipping Methods
Trailers (open and enclosed):
– Drive-away: Professional driver delivers the trailer to your address
– Hot-shot freight: Smaller carriers, faster delivery times
– Self-pickup: Available at our San Jose, CA yard (366 S 22nd St)
Shipping Containers:
– Tilt-bed delivery: Container placed at ground level on prepared site
– Roll-on/roll-off: Standard freight delivery with optional offload
service
– Depot pickup: Available at partner depots in major U.S. cities (lower
cost)
3. Shipping Costs
Shipping cost depends on:
– Distance from our San Jose, CA yard
– Trailer/container size and weight
– Delivery method (drive-away vs freight)
– Site accessibility (rural vs urban)
– Fuel surcharges (industry standard, variable)
Typical Shipping Cost Ranges (from San Jose, CA):
Under 250 miles (California):
– Small Trailer / 20ft Container: $250 – $600
– Large Trailer / 40ft Container: $500 – $1,200
250-1,000 miles (West Coast / SW):
– Small Trailer / 20ft Container: $600 – $1,200
– Large Trailer / 40ft Container: $1,200 – $2,500
1,000-2,000 miles (Midwest):
– Small Trailer / 20ft Container: $1,200 – $2,000
– Large Trailer / 40ft Container: $2,500 – $4,000
2,000+ miles (East Coast):
– Small Trailer / 20ft Container: $2,000 – $3,500
– Large Trailer / 40ft Container: $4,000 – $6,500
Final shipping cost is calculated at checkout based on your ZIP code, or
quoted within 24 hours for custom orders.
4. Delivery Timeframes
– California (in-state): 3-7 business days
– Western U.S. (OR, WA, NV, AZ, UT, ID): 5-10 business days
– Central U.S.: 7-14 business days
– Eastern U.S.: 10-21 business days
– Alaska / Hawaii / Territories: 21-45 business days
Custom-built trailers add 2-6 weeks production time before shipping.
5. Site Preparation (Customer Responsibility)
Before delivery, ensure:
– Adequate access for a truck/trailer (driveway width 12+ ft, turning
radius)
– Solid ground at the drop site (gravel, concrete, or compacted soil)
– Overhead clearance (no low branches or power lines)
– An adult (18+) present to sign for delivery
– Required permits if delivering to a property under HOA or city
restriction
Failed delivery attempts due to inaccessible sites may incur redelivery
fees of $250-$500.
6. Delivery Inspection (CRITICAL)
Upon delivery:
1. Inspect the entire trailer/container BEFORE signing the bill of
lading
2. Take photos of all sides, the VIN plate, and any damage
3. Note any damage on the bill of lading — be specific (e.g., “dent on
left rear panel, 2 inches”)
4. If damage is significant, refuse delivery and call us immediately at

5. Concealed damage must be reported within 48 hours of delivery
Signing for delivery as “received in good condition” without inspection
severely limits damage claims.
7. Title and Registration Documents
For trailers requiring title:
– New trailers: Ship with Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin (MCO/MSO)
included in the delivery packet
– Used trailers: Ship with a clean assigned title (free of liens)
– You are responsible for state title transfer, registration, and
applicable fees in your home state
– Title documents are weatherproofed and attached securely to the
trailer at delivery
8. Shipping Insurance
– Standard freight insurance is included in our shipping costs
– Coverage: Full replacement value of the trailer up to $50,000
– Higher-value shipments: Optional additional insurance available —
contact us for a quote
– Insurance covers damage during transit, not after delivery acceptance
9. Tracking
– You will receive a tracking link via email within 24 hours of shipment
– Updates are provided at major checkpoints
– For real-time updates, contact your assigned carrier (contact info
provided)
– Day-of-delivery: You’ll receive a call 2-4 hours before arrival
10. Failed Delivery / Refused Delivery
– If you refuse delivery without prior agreement, return freight and 15%
restocking fee apply
– If site is inaccessible and we cannot deliver, redelivery fee applies
($250-$500)
– Storage fees may apply if delivery is delayed by buyer ($50/day after
3 days)
11. Damaged Shipments
See our Return Policy for full damage handling procedures. In summary:
– Document damage at delivery
– Contact us within 48 hours
– We coordinate repair, replacement, or refund
12. Sales Tax
Sales tax is calculated at checkout based on your shipping address and
applicable state/local rates. Currently we collect sales tax in states
where Power House Trailers has nexus.
California buyers pay the California base rate (7.25%) plus local
district tax. San Jose total: 9.375%.
13. International Shipping
We currently do not offer international shipping. We may add export
options in the future for Canada and Mexico. Contact us if you have a
specific international need — we may be able to recommend an export
broker.
